'Club Jaguar' is a story that forms an unexpected continuation of the 'Story of Gracchus', in which a number of the main characters of the 'Story of Gracchus' get mysteriously transported to an alternative 'Everett World' - purportedly a contemporary version of Las Vegas.

Chapter I
This new departure (or in this case arrival), begins appropriately in Book I, Chapter I of 'Club Jaguar'.
It is an 'arrival' because the character who we have known as 'Marcus' (from the Story of Gracchus), arrives on a warm, rainy night outside a hotel/casino known as 'Club Jaguar', where he is discovered by a very familiar looking young 'bouncer' called 'Frank'.

Having inexplicably had his memory wiped clean, the 'lost boy' (as he is initially known), has no idea of who he is, or where he is.
Frank gets permission from his supervisor to bring the boy into the hotel, and thinking that the mysterious 'Boss' may take a liking to the kid, and seeing that he boy appears to be slightly injured - possibly by a passing car, he gets permission for the boy to be checked over by the hotel doctor.
This, of course, is an 'Everett alternative world', and so the Doctor, like the young 'bouncer' Frank, seems strangely familiar - at least to those of you inhabiting this 'world'.

Lockwood finds the boy just slightly bruised, but is concerned by his almost total amnesia.
He decides, therefore, to allow the boy to stay at the hotel overnight, and then to have the 'Boss' make a decision about what should be done with the lad.
Frank then takes the boy to one of the hotel rooms - where the boy spends the night.

Chapter II
Chapter II of Book I - 'Club Jaguar' opens with the boy waking and being served breakfast in his room.

After his breakfast the boy opens the curtains, and gets his first view of the hotel and Lake Mead.
'Frank' then arrives, and takes the boy for a further visit to Dr. Lockwood.
The boy was then returned to his room and provided with lunch - meanwhile Lockwood had an interview with the 'Boss'.
At the interview the 'Boss' agrees to see the boy, who is taken down to the office of the 'Boss'.
When the boy finally meets the 'Boss' the 'Boss', while not giving anything away, senses that this boy is someone he has been waiting a long time to see - but not being completely sure, he promises to look after the lad, and gives him a name - 'Jaguar Jim', a new name for a new life.....
The boy - now given the name 'Jim', is returned to Room 33 in the 'Club Jaguar' hotel.
Eventually a blond, slim young man arrives at the room, introducing himself as Ethan.
Later a large package arrives for Jim with clothes provided for Jim to wear during his evening dining with the 'Boss'.
Jim changes into his new clothes, and Ethan escorts him to the front entrance of the 'Club jaguar', where Jim is amazed to find a huge Cadillac limousine waiting to take him to his meeting with the 'Boss'.
Dinner with the 'Boss' takes place at a roof top restaurant overlooking Lake Mead.
During the meal the 'Boss' explains the intricacies of dinning 'à la russe' - tells Jim about Cadillacs - which Jim has never heard of, and explains to Jim that he will be engaging a specialist to try to cure Jim of his amnesia.
Later in the evening the 'Boss' tells Jim a little about his 'past' - when he was a graduate of Harvard - and spent a number of years in Mexico exploring the ruined, ancient civilisation of the Maya.
The 'Boss' talks about the Mayan civilisation, and the ruined city of Palenque - and the Mexican 'brujo' (sorcerer) that he met, and the teaching that the 'brujo' imparted to him about the 'Jaguar God' of the 'Night Sun' and the 'búho', or owl associated with the 'Jaguar God'.

At the mention of the 'Búho of the Jaguar God' Jim becomes faint and disorientated, and the 'Boss' resolves to have an early appointment made with Dr Brandt - the specialist who will hopefully discover what is wrong with Jim.
At the conclusion of the meal the 'Boss' suggests that in future Jim should stay with Ethan at a lavish penthouse which the 'Boss' owns in Vegas.
The Maya civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization - noted for its hieroglyphic script - the only known fully developed writing system of the pre-Columbian Americas - as well as for its art, architecture, mathematics, calendar, and astronomical system.

The Maya elite were literate, and developed a complex system of hieroglyphic writing that was the most advanced in the pre-Columbian Americas.

Supernatural forces pervaded Maya life, and influenced every aspect of it from the simplest day-to-day activities, such as food preparation, to trade, politics, and elite activities.

The Maya were a ritualistic people, who paid great respect to the destructive nature of their gods.
They had many traditions to commemorate the recently deceased, and worship long-departed ancestors.
People who died by suicide, sacrifice, childbirth and in battle, were thought to be transported directly into heaven.

The Maya associated the colour red with death and rebirth, and often covered graves and skeletal remains with cinnabar.
Burial sites were oriented to provide access to the next world.
Graves faced north or west, in the directions of the Maya Heavens.
Blood was viewed as a potent source of nourishment for the Maya deities, and the sacrifice of a living creature was a powerful blood offering.
By extension, the sacrifice of a human life was the ultimate offering of blood to the gods, and the most important Maya rituals culminated in human sacrifice.

Back to 'Club Jaguar' - the Story
Chapter IV
Chapter IV of Book I - 'Club Jaguar' opens with Jim and Ethan returning to the 'Club Jaguar' to collect the 'casual clothes' that the 'Boss' had provided, and then going on to the apartment block close by which was topped with a magnificent penthouse.

Chapter V of Book I - 'Club Jaguar' opens with the 'boys' oversleeping, and then hurriedly being driven to the 'Clun jaguar, after having stopped of for cheeseburgers at a nearby McDonald's.
On arriving at the 'Club Jaguar', Jim and Ethan went to see Dr Lockwood.
Lockwood explained about Jim's visit to Dr Brandt, and during the discussion the 'Boss' arrived.
The 'Boss' warned Jim that he needed to co-operate with Brandt, and then left, allowing the boys to leave the club and get chauffeured to Brandt's office a little way further into town.
Dr Brandt was another of those characters who looked remarkably 'familiar' - but then this is an 'Everett World'.
Brandt, 'quirky' and decidedly Central European, began with the inevitable 'tell me about your childhood'.
Jim, seeming to have hypnotised himself, then began muttering in Latin, as he imagined the warm waters of the Gulf of Neapolis.
Chapter VI of Book I - 'Club Jaguar' opens with Jim and Ethan returning to the penthouse, but on the way they receive a message from the 'Boss' inviting them to lunch and a 'shopping expedition'.
For this trip the 'Boss' had selected from his fleet of limos a huge 'long wheel-base' black Cadillac.
Very soon they arrived at the hotel where they were to have lunch.
They had their meal in a small, private dining room.
During the meal, Jim had a 'flashback' when the 'Boss' ruffled Ethan's hair....
Having ascertained that Jim was OK, the 'Boss' then spoke about the shopping trip, and Ethan suggested a shopping Mall that they could go to.
At the mall the 'Boss' bought the boys some sports gear, and some smart casual clothes - and Ethan sent Chuck - the chauffeur, off to get some cheeseburgers, despite the fact that he had just had lunch.
The next chapter - Chapter VII of Book I - 'Club Jaguar' - opens with Ethan and Jim returning to the Penthouse - after first dropping off the 'Boss'.
On arriving at the Penthouse Jim, for the first time meets Clare - their housekeeper and 'substitute mother'.
After meeting Clare a new person arrived - Zac.
Now to Jim, Zac looked instantly familiar, but it was such a shock that Jim instantly fainted.
(of course, if you have been following the 'Story of Gracchus' you too will probably think that 'Zac' looks very familiar).
Zac 'phones Dr. Lockwood, but as Jim seems to have recovered with no ill effects Lockwood asks for Jim to see him first thing in the morning.
Meanwhile, Zac has some 'presents' from the 'Boss' - a laptop and a mobile 'phone for each of the boys.

Zac then shows the boys how to use the laptops, and how to order items from the Internet.
The following morning, as part of the new fitness regime of the 'Boss', Zac takes Ethan for a jog, while, at Dr Lockwood's suggestion, Jim went directly to see Dr Brandt.
Subsequent to Jim seeing Brandt, however, the 'Boss' had a private meeting with Brandt in order to discuss Jim's case.

Later in the day. Jim returned to the penthouse, and from there Jim and Ethan were taken, by Zac, to the Sports Centre and Gymnasium that Zac regularly used.
After the training session, Zac took Jim and Ethan to the Sports Centre pool for some stamina training.
After the training session Zac invites Jim and Ethan back to the Club Jaguar for an evening meal, on the understanding that they would not have to meet up with the 'Boss'.
Apparently the 'Boss' wanted Jim and Ethan to visit him the following day in his villa on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
The journey - with Chuck driving yet another Cadillac limo - would take them along Interstate Highway 15.
On the way, while still in Las Vegas, they picked up an expensively dressed young man, who rode in the front with Chuck, but did not speak.
The Villa of the 'Boss', known as the 'Villa Jaguar', was situated in extensive parkland, and consisted of a large array of interconnected pavilions.
Jim and Ethan were met at the Villa by Zac.
The well dressed young man left the Cadillac without a word, but was identified by Chuck, the chauffeur, as Don Picaro.
Zac then led them to the entrance atrium where they met the 'Boss'.

The 'Boss' then explained about Don Picaro - who he described as his 'brujo' (sorcerer), and explained that Don Picaro would join them later, as he was at that moment playing with his 'pet búho' - his owl...
On hearing that Jim nearly fainted once again.
Once Jim had recovered his composure, they walked down a long corridor to the study of the 'Boss'.
Once seated comfortably in the study Ethan asked about this connection with the Mayans.
The 'Boss' repeated much of what he had explained at the Club jaguar previously, but went into more detail about his university years and his involvement with the famous archaeologist, Frans Bloom.
Ethan, who was listening intently realised that the story that the 'Boss' was giving them didn't 'add up', as the 'Boss' couldn't still be alive if he was in Mexico in 1924.
In addition, the 'Boss' explained that he had first met Don Picaro at the same time that he was in Mexico - and yet Don Picaro looked the same age as Ethan and Jim.
At that point Don Picaro entered the study - and claimed to know both Ethan and Jim.

Meanwhile, the 'Boss' showed Ethan and Jim a photo of Don Picaro from 1924 ! - swearing that it was geniune.
While Ethan and Jim were still unable to cope with the photo that the 'Boss' had shown them, Zac arrived in the study, and in answer to Don Picaro's questioning he admitted that he knew who Don Picaro really was.
Meanwhile, another Cadillac was speeding along Interstate 15 bringing another person to the meeting.
By the time this additional guest had arrived, everyone had moved to a elegant dining room.
The new guest was a young man, now known as Josh.
No one could really remember who Josh was.
Don Picaro the began an explanation - revealing, to begin with, that they had previously known him as 'Faunus'.
Faunus then continued with a long and detailed explanation, making particular reference to the idea of reincarnation and recurrence.
Then, as nobody was bothering to eat, they all retired to the study once again.
There they decided, at the suggestion of the 'Boss', that Ethan would stay with Ethan and Jim, in the penthouse.
Finally, as they were about to leave Josh was re-united with 'Don Picaro's' 'pet búho' who, obviously, was Glaux !

On the way back from LA Ethan recounts to Josh how he was picked up by Frank, and was then handed over to the 'Boss' - who looked after him - and with 'no strings attached'.
Not surprisingly Josh was impressed by the Penthouse apartment building.
On entering the building, Josh, who was expected only had to sign for a set of keys.
On the way up to the Penthouse, Glaux was a bit unnerved by the elevator.
Ethan then showed Josh and Glaux round the Penthouse.
When Glaux paid a lot of attention to the cheeseburgers that the boys were eating, they then started to discuss how they would feed Glaux.
Ethan suggested cheeseburgers - to which he had become 'addicted' since arriving.
Josh thought that cooked meat and bread were not natural food for owls, and so Ethan suggested that Jim looked up owls' diets on his laptop.
The following morning Josh and Jim were driven by Kurt, in a huge white Lincoln Continental, into town.

Meanwhile, Ethan was waiting in the Penthouse for a visit from Faunus.
Jim, who was seeing Dr. Brandt gave a very bad impression, as he tried to explain who Faunus was, who Josh was, and how there was an owl called Glaux at the villa Jaguar.
Brandt was at a loss to understand what Jim was talking about, and was beginning to think that the boy might be psychotic.
Fortunately for Jim, it was the last time he was to see Dr. Brandt, as the 'boss' had decided to let Faunus deal with the 'boys' memory problems.
Jim, having been dismissed by an exasperated Dr. Brandt, returned to the Club Jaguar in the white Lincoln.
While Josh and Jim had been away, Ethan had a visitor - Faunus.
No longer pretending to be a young Spanish 'hidalgo', Faunus appeared at the doors of the penthouse looking like a all American, 'preppy' teenage boy - the idea being to make Ethan more relaxed in his company.
Faunus began by trying to explain to Ethan that Ethan was no the 'all American boy', but really came from another time, and another place.
Ethan found that hard to believe - or understand - so Faunus decided to slightly hypnotize Ethan and puts some images into his mind - images from Ethan's real past.
Not surprisingly Ethan was very shocked and disturbed by the images he had seen and the subsequent and difficult explanations that Faunus had given him.
Meanwhile, Josh and Jim had a talk with the 'Boss' - who was explaining to them how Faunus would help them to remember some of their past, and help them to integrate those memories into their current identities.
The 'Boss' then explained that he had been in contact with Brandt, and had terminated Jim's treatment - knowing that Faunus would be of more help.
The 'Boss' then decided that a little 'shopping therapy' would be good for all of them.
Very soon they were back at the Penthouse to pick up Ethan - who looked far from happy after his session with Faunus.
Meanwhile, Josh and Jim had a talk with the 'Boss' - who was explaining to them how Faunus would help them to remember some of their past, and help them to integrate those memories into their current identities.

During the drive - in the luxurious comfort of the Lincoln, the 'Boss' mentioned that Zac had made contact with a boy called Brody at the Gym - and the 'Boss' suggested that he might have a job for Brody at a 'combat sport' franchise owned by a 'friend' of the 'Boss'.
Soon they were in the centre of Los Angeles.
Very quickly Ethan recovered from his session with Faunus as the 'Boss' bought them all 'smart casuals', trainers, and more formal suites, shirts, ties and shoes.
When they arrived back in Vegas, the 'Boss' left them at the Club Jaguar, while Chuck took them back to the Penthouse.
On getting back, they found that Faunus had already arrived - gaining in without a key - as was his way.
Faunus then took Jim out on the deck of the Penthouse.

Faunus and Jim sat on the comfortable armchairs on the deck of the Penthouse, and Faunus put Jim into a light trance and began to project images and thoughts into Jim's mind.

After Faunus had shown Jim many images from his 'past', Faunus then gave a long explanation to Jim of what had happened to him and the others.
After his not entirely complete explanation Faunus simply disappeared, leaving Jim on the deck of the Penthouse, puzzled.
Subsequently Ethan and Josh went out to see Jim, to ask him how his session with Faunus had been.
After a long talk they decided that they should have a serious talk with Zac.

Faunus then took Josh into the main living room, where he gave further explanations to the others (Jim, Ethan and Zac).
